If I make the face enough, will it freeze that way?

(SIGH) One more morning down, 300 more eye rolls to go for the day.
I remember growing up and hearing that if you keep making faces, and someone were to hit you on the back at just the right time, your face would freeze that way. To be honest, I don't remember my mom or dad ever telling me this urban myth. Actually, my mom may have between the ages of 13-20 when my attitude and eye rolling hit new heights, but I digress...
Although my parents never used this as a scare tactic to stop the attitude I do know that for a while I believed it whole heartedly and refused to make ugly faces or roll my eyes. Wow, have times changed. I'm not sure if there are any other mom's or dad's out there that find themselves taking deep sighs or rolling their eyes behind their children's backs during the day; but in light of the upcoming Olympics I will say that if this were an Olympic Sport...I would win gold. Look out Michael Phelps, I would break your "most medals" record by leaps and bounds.
I know I should try and stop rolling my eyes, or atleast minimizes it in some way, but there are honestly days I can't help it. The things that Zachary and Drew fight about are sometimes so out of left field and ridiculous that it warrants an eye roll or two. Now I know that when a sibling takes a toy it can be devastating and frustrating to a 4 year old. I never had a sibling that tried to go after all of my things though. No, Matthew never fought me for my Hawaiin Barbie or my Pink Popple, so I can't fully understand where Zachary and Drew come from when they scream about the other as though one of their arms has been ripped off. But what I can compare their rage to would be...hmmm...if someone were to grab my wallet out of my hands and just take off, laughing and looking back at me the whole time. I would be furious. Actually, I would laugh because the joke would be on them. The only thing they would find in my wallet is, maybe, a dime (and that's if the zipper decided not to break on that day and it actually held the change in place) and a Graeter's "buy 40 scoops, get one free card." I apologize, I digressed again.
Anyway...although I believe that my eye rolling is sometimes justified and forgivable (as long as the kiddos down't see), I do have to be more aware of how I respond to normal, brotherly love, competition, and territorial tendencies with their things. Because I know that one day in the not so distant future they are going to be fighting over much larger things than a deck of UNO cards: girls, clothes, and who can drive the mini van to go out with the fellas.
In closing, if you are someone who is inclined to pray...pray my eyes don't get stuck in the back of my head as I am in the process of breaking this awful habit. And pray that my boys don't pick up on this habit of mine because if there is any truth to your face "getting stuck that way if you are hit in your back while making the face", it will happen here. One of the boys will inevitably hit the other while my back is turned and one of my children will spend the rest of his life fighting to get his eyeballs back in the right place.
With a sigh I bid you farewell,
The Joyful and Tired Mom
